RONDA'S CORNER

I had a wonderful time at the Annual Dinner last week. I missed everyone who was unable to make it.
I had some fun sharing my little tidbits about our lending outside the CASLS system. Here are a few tidbits you might have missed.

Tidbits of curiosity:
We had 91% of the books we wanted to borrow sent to us.
We were able to send 67% of the books other libraries wanted to borrow from us.
Reasons for this lower percentage include:
oRequests timing out before I could secure the book from anyone.
oMultiple requests were for the Hunger Games series.
o Multiple requests for (I still can’t believe this one) The Star Wars Cookbook : Wookie Cookies
We sent books to 38 different states.
By charging libraries that would charge us to use their books, we made $293.
By lending our books @ .443 per book that OCLC gives us incredit, we saved about $437

Traveling Book awards for this year:
Jet Set award for farthest traveled went to Wishbone from Franklinville for traveling 4,000 mile to Fairbank Alaska
Train Travel Award for 2nd farthest traveled went to South Pacific from Bolivar Richburg Secondary for traveling 2,749 miles to Marina, California
Car Trip Award for 3rd farthest traveled went to Adaptive School from Belfast for traveling 2,635 miles to Santa Barbara, California.
Space Travel award went to Chesapeake and Ohio Railway from Allegany Limestone MH for traveling to New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico.
Certificate of Appreciation for lending the most books through OCLC went to Fillmore for filling 30 requests.
Certificate of Appreciation for lending to the most states went to Randolph High who had books go to 8 different states.
